Schizophrenia Psychological Interventions: Network Meta-Analysis of randomized evidence (SPIN-MA)

Schizophrenia Psychological Interventions: Network Meta-Analysis of randomized evidence (SPIN-MA)

Schizophrenia Psychological Interventions Network Meta-Analysis of randomized evidence (SPIN-MA) is a project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme,  under a Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowship (grant agreement no 701717).

The project aims at providing evidence about psychological interventions aimed at treating positive symptoms of schizophrenia.

Psychological interventions are being more and more integrated in the treatment of schizophrenia, but so far the best available evidence is in the form of pairwise meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies. This means it is not possible to ascertain the relative efficacy and acceptability of two treatments when they have not been compared in a study.

On the contrary, the methodology of the network meta-analysis allows to estimate effect sizes for all possible comparisons, whether or not they have been compared head to heads in a trial, providing a comprehensive view of all the available evidence.

The protocol of the study has been a-priori registered in Prospero, number CRD42017067795 (https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=67795), and published in BMJ Open (http://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/bmjopen/8/3/e019280.full.pdf).

Preliminary results have been presented at the Sixth Biennial SIRS Conference (Schizophrenia International Research Society, Florence 4-8 April 2018)

Results of the project have been published in World Psychiatry (full text available here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/wps.20577 ). This appendix contains detailed information on search strategy, included treatments, risk of bias assessment, results for secondary outcomes, SUCRA rankings, evaluation of heterogeneity and inconsistency, subgroup and sensitivity analyses, evaluation of confidence in the estimates: Appendix.pdf

Data used for analysis of the primary outcome are available here:Dataset.pdf

Dr Irene Bighelli is conducting the project, under the supervision of Professor Stefan Leucht.

Biennale SIRS Conference vorgestellt (Schizophrenia International Research Society, Florenz 4.-8. April 2018).

Die Ergebnisse wurden in World Psychiatry veröffentlicht (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/wps.20577). Weitere Informationen, Daten und Ergebnisse finden Sie hier:Appendix.pdf Dataset.pdf
